Update 5/26/2020:

Reopening:
As I am sure you saw in the Phases rolled out on Monday, Phase 2 allows for Athletic Fields to be open as early as June 8 and we can resume league play in Phase 3, as early as June 29. We have permits for parks throughout Boston in various towns and will comply with the individual towns rules and guidelines once they are released. We expect to start hosting Pick Up games in June and will resume full league play the week of July 6th.

All league dates have been updated on our website and all summer leagues are open for registration. Additional leagues will be posted as soon as the permits come in within the next 2 days.

Please sign up soon if you are planning to play so we can begin working out all of the details. Of course, should the COVID situation worsen, we will send you a refund of full league fees.

As of right now, the Sponsor Bar aspect of S3 is up in the air. In a perfect world, some North Station streets will be closed to allow for outdoor seating and drinking, but it is very hard to know what will be allowed right now. I will keep you posted - and know I am looking into other ways to socialize after the games (because after all, that's what S3 is for).

As of right now, the Sponsor Bar aspect of S3 is up in the air. In a perfect world, some North Station streets will be closed to allow for outdoor seating and drinking, but it is very hard to know what will be allowed and in what fashion --- and what will actually happen right now. I will keep you posted - and know I am looking into other ways to socialize after the games (because after all, that's what S3 is for).

Refunds:
The refund policy has been updated to allow for more flexibility. You can ask for a refund within 7 days of a league start (our original policy is 21 days) - no questions asked. I am working on a policy that will allow for a partial refund if you contract COVID-19 during the season and how to communicate about it. Details on that will be released with the safety guidelines referenced below.

Safety:
Your safety is our largest priority and I am working on new guidelines and policies for our leagues. I have been in conversation with the permitting departments, other leagues within and outside of Boston, and the Sport & Social Industry Association (SSIA). There is a lot to consider and plan for and the guidelines will be released within the next few weeks. If you have a specific question that you'd like answered prior to registering for a league, please feel free to reach out to me directly at jess@s3boston.com and I will get back to you ASAP.

Safety Survey:
Please take a moment to fill our Safety Survey if you haven't already. Please be as specific as possible in your responses as it will allow me to think through what is best for our league. This is anonymous - there isn't even a section for your name. You can fill it out here: https://forms.gle/Vwprku8K3BshcVnQ7
I really appreciate it.

Thank You
This will be year 8 of S3. 8 freaking years. In March, when things started to get shut down, I really had no idea what was going to happen to the league. Many of those early nights were spent in anxiety - not knowing what to plan or how to plan or if I should plan anything at all. I am overwhelmed by the amount of planning it is going to take now --- but I am so ready for it.

I want to thank you for sticking it out, coming out to the virtual Happy Hours, participating in Trivia, continuing to post your running selfies on Thursdays in the group, and checking in with me to see how I am doing. I have appreciated every single moment and I appreciate you.

I also want to thank you again (and again, and again) for the donations that allowed me to keep the league going during the time we are closed. I would have been in a huge personal bind if you did not do that. I had enough donated to make it through June which is lining up perfectly with the reopening. I still read over the messages you sent as a reminder of what we have built together. THANK YOU.

We are so much more than just a league.

If you have any specific questions about anything at all, you can email me at jess@s3boston.com. It may take me a few days to get back to you.

We will see you soon,

Jessica Knight

Update 5/19/2020:

We have spoken to the Parks Department and plan to reopen in July with new guidelines and precautions. Information will be communicated to you as soon as we sort through the details.

Update 4/20/2020:

We have been closely following the guidelines and responses and actions taken in regard to the COVID-19 virus. After careful consideration, we have decided to suspend all leagues through June 15. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated in the coming weeks.

  • Bowling is suspended indefinitely.
  • All leagues at Cambridge Community Center have been cancelled indefinitely. Refunds will be provided to all participants.
  • All Boston University Leagues have been cancelled through the Fall. Participants have been emailed and updated.
  • Beach Volleyball will now begin June 20.
  • All Outdoor Spring sports are cancelled and all participants have been moved to
  • All of our outdoor Spring Leagues are cancelled. All participants that registered for a Spring league have been put into our Summer season automatically.
    • There is (of course) a chance that we will not be able to run Summer sports, or will need to push them out longer. We are hoping for the best.

We have emailed all individuals who were part of cancelled leagues. We are currently waiting for Paypal to allow us to refund you without incurring a fee.

As this situation is fluid, we will continue to monitor the situation as the weeks progress and keep you updated.

Our summer leagues are open for registration. There is a chance we will need to push out the dates - but we will see how it goes in the coming weeks.

We believe we will be able to play outdoor sports and enjoy the summer just as we always have. This could just be wishful thinking - but we truly hope to be back on the field with all of you soon.

We have launched some virtual events. We will have a Weekly Trivia Night, Thursday Run Group, and Friday Happy Hour each week. Check out the details here!

We will be changing our refund policy for those who register for any leagues before June 1. You can ask for a refund within 7 days of a league start (our original policy is 21 days) - no questions asked.

This is a challenging, uncertain time for all of us. We will get through it and we look forward to seeing you all very soon.

If you have any specific questions, you can email me at jess@s3boston.com. Please note it may take me a few days to get back to you.

Be kind and wash your hands,
